Plan the Night Before

Before you go to bed, take a couple of minutes to write down what you want to accomplish the next day. A simple checklist of three or four items will help set the tone for what you want to get done and provide specific goals to meet. Keep in mind that you will want to stretch or loosen up first to minimize the risk of injury.

This is not to be confused with eating a large breakfast. You’ll want to keep the sugar and fat count down and emphasize non-processed foods like fruits, vegetables, eggs, and the like. A bowl of oatmeal flavored with fruit provides the energy you need while not adding unnecessary calories, so think healthy when you eat your breakfast.

There are many websites and books filled with great, inspirational good morning quotes that will brighten your day and get you to thinking outside the box. If you sit and pay attention to your mind for any extended period of time you will see how thoughts just seem to spring into our mind out of nowhere. And unfortunately may of these thoughts can be quite negative. One of the most powerful ways to maintain a positive mindset is to cultivate the habit of speaking positively. One of the best ways to do this is to keep a collection of positive words close at hand. Pay someone a compliment, write a thank you note or say some positive affirmations. Or play games where you, for example, look for positive words that start with N or positive A words, etc.

Be Motivating to Others

Raising your spirits only lasts if you can help others to feel positive about their day as well. So, keep a smile on your face and greet others in a positive way. A “good morning” here and “how can I help?” there will go a long ways towards bringing others up, and this in turn will spread positivity around the workplace. You may find that when things are not looking as bright that others will return the favor and bring a smile to your face.
